The VPHA masterclass is a weeklong Extra-Mural-Studies (EMS) clinical placement, hosted by one of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland’s vet schools. This weeklong learning opportunity provides students with a proven passion for Veterinary Public health the chance to engage in this topic on a higher level, where they gain in depth exposure to facets of public health work such as border control posts, further processing facilities and government departments etc. The purpose of the week is to highlight to students the varied and different career pathways open to veterinary surgeons’ post-graduation.

The host of the placement is decided at the annual VPH vet schools meeting and rotates across all vet schools of the British Isles. Each vet schools is responsible for their own selection process and nominates one student to attend.  VPHA kindly sponsors this event ensuring that student accommodation is covered at the host institution allowing all students to apply for the course without fear of undue cost.
