The Association of Government Veterinarians (AGV) is a Specialist Division of the British Veterinary Association representing the views of vets working in and/or for UK Government Departments and Executive Agencies.

Membership is open to veterinary professionals who are employed by a Government department, provide services to Government or have previously had such roles.

  • We are a community of Government vets offering networking and social activities with colleagues across Government including CPD at our conferences (typically held jointly with the Veterinary Public Health Association).
  • We provide an authoritative, independent opinion to decision makers on matters affecting vets in Government.
  • We input into consultations affecting government vets and provide a channel of communication with the British Veterinary Association.
  • We engage internationally including with the Federation of Veterinarians in Europe and the European Association of State Veterinary Officers.
